An Ode to Monkeys
by Ethan

Hello Monkeys!
You're so furry.
Your eyes are adorable
You screech loudly.
Why are you just like
humans? Why do your
babies hold onto your back?
I love seeing you at the zoo.
You jump onto branches
with glee. Some of you are
little. Some of you
are big. You are all different
colors. You sweet and furry
monkeys.

Ode to Pancakes
By Ethan
O pancakes, so squishy
and tasty in my mouth.
You always make me happy
at breakfast at
my house and
at the diner.
You taste so
good with
syrup, butter,
and cinnamon.
The syrup dripping
down my chin
looks like honey.
I always eat
it with chocolate
chips and whipped cream
at the diner. When
I finish you, I
am sad that
you’re gone.
You should always
eat pancakes!

An Ode to Dogs
by Ethan

O soft dogs, you’re
So sweet and lovable.
I love it when
You lie on
My lap.
Your tongue feels so rough and smooth
When you lick
Me. You’re so
Cute when
You’re asleep.
You always make me happy.
You sweet and
Lovable dogs.

An ode to Ice Cream
By Chase Klavon

smells like milk and sugar
sounds like
crisp
juicy apples when you chew and swallow
tastes like cold,cold, deliciousness
O ice cream why do you give me
brain freeze
I feel like I have
hypothermia
O brain freeze
I long for you
freezing ice cream
with
crunchy whipped cream
with a cherry
that
Bleeds through
and makes the
whipped cream
red
my taste buds are
Dancing
O please o please
make just one more
flavor

An Ode to an Empty Stomach
by Chase

I sit and wat at the lunch table
but still no food did I
see
I flatten my lunchbox
but it was
EMPTY
My stomach is
Gurgling of
hunger
"O" how I wish I
could...
I could
stuff my
face

An Ode to Modern Times
By Kelly Kane
I dance to the music of the dishwasher
I sway to keep with its rhythmic time.
I hum the tune of the refrigerator
Its melody is as constant as the tides.
The scents of my youth are soft and freeze-dried
Cheap and simple and richly salted.
I sample of the fruits of artificial flavors:
Nothing tastes sweeter than corn syrup.
My fingers trail through silken polyester,
Imitation feathers cushion me at night.
The internet tells me all I need to know,
Antibiotics keep me healthy and strong.
A plastic flower adorns my hair
Fire-proof pre-shrunk cotton swirls about my legs
My red-painted toes gloss the coated tile
Humming lights block out the moon and stars
As I sway in time to the gurgling dishwasher.

An Ode to SpongebobBy Eddie Kalegi
Spongebob is very cool
His home is almost like a pool

Spongebob can absorb crumbs
He has kind of small thumbs

At work Mr. Krabs is his boss
Spongebob likes to say "Oh tartar sauce"

Spongebob is so very funny
His slippers look just like bunnies

Spongebob hangs out with Patrick everyday
They like to jellyfish in their own way

Spongebob lives in a pineapple house
His pet Gary is a snail not a mouse

Spongebob is square and yellow
He is a very nice fellow!!

Ode to Saturday Morning Cartoons
by Silvan

It’s dreary outside
The sun is barely up
And it shines
Through dark clouds
But I am not awake
At this hour
To be outside
I am here to see the faces
The extra-real colors
The adventures
Wrapped in
Easy
Simple
half hour installments.

An Ode to Cats
By Erica
Your black and white body rubbing against my legs,
You purr softly as I comb you,
Follows me around the cat flat,
Purrs at me as if begging me to stay longer,
You jump up next to me while I take your fur out of the comb,
You’re harmless to everything except mice and rats,
You jump up on the windowsill when we arrive,
O cat, I long to play with you every day but now I have to leave

Ode To Mangos

Ode to Mangos
By Graham Hebel

Red and green your bulwark hangs
Resolute: barely swaying in the breeze.
Your walls protect your sweet and tang
Amidst your sisters in their trees.

Sun leans down to kiss your skin
And wind blows on your face.
Rain brings nourishment from Cloud
Down on your shoulders thin.
Beneath your veils of leafy lace
You smile: a happily ripening crowd.

An Ode to Christmas
By Paige

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
It’s a great holiday
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
I hope it won’t go away

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
I’m happy it’s coming soon
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
I’m blown up with excitement like a balloon

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
Look up in the sky
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas
Hey it’s Santa flying by

Erica's Poem
PS I have not yet edited this poem.

One look and you are hooked

on how beautiful she is

but do not be deceived,

she is as goofy as a child

and also just as innocent.

Big doe eyes, bluer than the skies.

Flowing tresses just as a princess’.

Pink lips that smile so wide,

revealing pearly whites I do admire.

She’s always clothed in vintage.

She is far from the usual,

her quirkiness so cool.

Ever seen The New Girl?

“It’s Jess!”

but really, it’s Deschanel, in the flesh.
